Airtel Network Outage Disrupts Services Nationwide, Users Left Frustrated
New Delhi,: Telecom giant Airtel faced a major service disruption across India on Monday, leaving thousands of subscribers unable to make calls, send messages, or access mobile internet. The outage, which began around 3:30 PM IST, triggered a flood of complaints on social media and outage tracking platforms, with users from cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Chennai reporting complete signal loss and patchy data connectivity.
According to Downdetector, over 3,600 complaints were registered at the peak of the outage, with 73% of users reporting issues with both voice and data services. Many subscribers noted that their phones showed no signal despite being in areas with typically strong coverage. Others expressed frustration over failed outgoing and incoming calls, and mobile data not working even after recent recharges.
The timing of the outage—during peak working hours—added to the inconvenience, especially for remote workers, students, and professionals relying on mobile networks for meetings, online classes, and digital transactions. “@Airtel_Presence @airtelindia services are completely down. Unable to make or receive calls and even messages are not working. This is causing serious inconvenience,” one user posted on X (formerly Twitter).
Airtel acknowledged the issue in an official statement, saying, “We are currently experiencing a network outage, our team is actively working to resolve the issue and restore services promptly. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused”.
While some users reported partial restoration by late evening, the company has yet to confirm the root cause of the disruption or provide a timeline for full recovery. The incident has reignited concerns over the reliability of telecom infrastructure, especially as mobile networks become increasingly critical to daily life.
Bharti Airtel’s stock saw a minor dip following the outage, closing at ₹1,924.70 on the Bombay Stock Exchange, down 0.26% from the previous day.
As the situation develops, Airtel users are advised to monitor official channels for updates and avoid making critical calls or transactions until services stabilize.
