Brazilian Model Photo Used in Haryana Voter List? Rahul Gandhi’s Explosive Allegation
In a dramatic press conference held in New Delhi on November 5, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Election Commission of India (ECI) of orchestrating a massive voter fraud in the 2024 Haryana Assembly Elections. Gandhi claimed that 25 lakh fake votes were cast, turning a likely Congress victory into defeat. He alleged that one in every eight voters in Haryana was fake, stating, “Haryana has 2 crore voters, and 25 lakh of them are fake.” Gandhi further revealed that 5.21 lakh duplicate voter entries were found, many of which used the same photograph under different names i.e., Brazilian Model.
Who Is the Brazilian Model in the Voter List?
The image Gandhi presented as evidence was traced back to a Brazilian model, whose photo was uploaded to Unsplash.com by photographer Matheus Ferrero. The image, titled “woman wearing blue denim jacket”, was first published on March 2, 2017, and has since been viewed over 59 million times and downloaded more than 4 lakh times under Unsplash’s free-use license. Ferrero’s profile confirms he is a professional photographer. The image was taken using a Canon EOS Digital Rebel XS and has appeared in countless blogs and websites. Importantly, there is no evidence suggesting the model or photographer had any role in the alleged voter duplication.
Rahul Gandhi’s “H-Files” and the 22 Fake IDs
According to Gandhi, the same image of the Brazilian model was used across 22 different voter IDs in Haryana, under names like Seema, Sweety, and Saraswati. He called this a “centralised operation” and accused the BJP of manipulating the electoral rolls with the help of the Election Commission. Gandhi’s team reportedly used facial recognition tools and data analytics to uncover these duplications. He said, “This is not an error, it’s a system. One person voting 22 times under different identities is a deliberate fraud.”
BJP and EC Respond to Allegations
The Election Commission dismissed Gandhi’s claims, stating that the Congress party failed to raise objections during the polling process. BJP leaders called the allegations “baseless” and accused Gandhi of undermining democratic institutions. However, Gandhi’s presentation has sparked widespread debate, especially on social media, where hashtags like #VoteChori, #HaryanaFraud, and #BrazilianModelVoter began trending.

Haryana Districts Under Scrutiny
The alleged voter fraud reportedly affected districts like Rohtak, Hisar, Panipat, and Gurugram, where Congress candidates lost by narrow margins. Gandhi’s team claims that these areas had unusually high duplicate entries and mismatched voter photos.
