New Delhi, — In a shocking incident this morning, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was attacked during her weekly Jan Sunwai (public hearing) session held at her Civil Lines residence.

At approximately 8:15 a.m., a man posing as a petitioner handed over papers to the Chief Minister before suddenly assaulting her—slapping, pulling her hair, and pushing her—until security personnel intervened and restrained him. The attacker, identified as Rajesh Bhai Sakriya (also Rajeshbhai Khimjibhai), a 41-year-old man from Rajkot, Gujarat, was immediately apprehended and taken into custody

Early investigations suggest that the assault was premeditated. CCTV footage indicates the attacker had conducted reconnaissance of the CM’s residence a day prior. An attempt-to-murder FIR has been filed under section 109(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita
