The event was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with central ministers Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari and others; Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and AP Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan also participated. In the Vice President election held on September 9 of this month, the NDA coalition’s candidate C.P. Radhakrishnan defeated his nearest rival Justice B. Sudarshan Reddy with a majority of 152 votes. With all counting symbols completed, on Thursday Radhakrishnan resigned from the post of Governor of Maharashtra. As a result, the responsibility of Maharashtra was handed over by President Murmu to Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat.

It may be recalled that on the first day of the monsoon session of Parliament on July 21, Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned. That day, he had conducted Rajya Sabha proceedings normally throughout the morning, but late at night announced the unexpected decision. He cited health reasons.
