The Five Days of Diwali 2025 – Complete Guide
1. Dhanteras (Dhana Trayodashi) – October 18, 2025 (Saturday)
- Lakshmi Puja, Yamadeepdaan, and Go-triratna Vrat are performed.
- Considered auspicious to buy gold, silver, and new utensils.
- A special lamp is lit in the southern direction for the ancestors (Pitru Devatas).
- Also celebrated as Dhanvantari Jayanti in many regions.
2. Naraka Chaturdashi – October 19, 2025 (Sunday)
- The day Lord Krishna killed the demon Narakasura.
- Early morning oil bath (taila abhyangana) is recommended.

3. Diwali / Lakshmi Puja – October 20, 2025 (Monday)

How to Perform Lakshmi Puja on Diwali?
- Set up a clean place with silver or clay Lakshmi idols or kalash.
- Bathe the idol with pure water, milk, and turmeric water.
- Offer kumkum, turmeric, flowers, tulasi leaves, betel leaves, and naivedyam (sweets).
- Light 11 or 21 lamps (deepams) and chant: “Om Mahalakshmyai Namaha” – 108 times.
