🔴 Oracle Layoffs Shake Global Teams: Cloud Division Hit Hard in India and US

In a move that’s sending shockwaves across the tech industry, Oracle has initiated a fresh round of layoffs today, August 13, 2025, impacting hundreds of employees across its global operations. The cuts are particularly severe in India and the United States, with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) teams bearing the brunt.

Affected departments include:

  • OCI’s Enterprise Engineering division
  • Technical project managers in the AI/ML team
  • The broader OCI AI division

While the full scale of the layoffs hasn’t been officially disclosed, internal sources suggest that more regions may face similar cuts later this week. Employees in other countries have reported sudden manager meetings, hinting at looming announcements.

This isn’t Oracle’s first round of job reductions. The company laid off several hundred workers in November last year, followed by thousands more in March. Ironically, these cuts come at a time when Oracle is aggressively hiring for its AI data center expansion, especially to support OpenAI’s Stargate initiative—a $30 billion-a-year partnership.

Despite the layoffs, Oracle’s stock is soaring, up 52% year-to-date, driven by major cloud contracts with TikTok and Temu. The company has not yet issued an official statement regarding today’s layoffs.

For many employees, the news has landed like a thunderclap. With no prior warning and access to internal systems reportedly revoked immediately, the atmosphere is tense. While Oracle claims the layoffs aren’t performance-based, the sudden nature and scale have left many questioning the company’s long-term strategy.

  1. Hi there this is somewhat of off topic but I was wondering if blogs use WYSIWYG editors or if
you have to manually code with HTML. I’m starting a blog soon but have no coding experience so I wanted to get guidance from someone with
experience. Any help would be enormously appreciated!
