Ahmedabad Schools Rocked by Bomb Threat Emails, Panic Grips Parents

The Scare That Shook Ahmedabad

Bomb threats to schools in Ahmedabad have once again raised serious concerns about student safety. On December 17, 2025, at least nine schools across Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar received threatening emails claiming explosions would occur at specific times.

The schools included Zydus School, Nirman High, DAV International, Maharaja Agrasen, and Zebar School. Police immediately evacuated students, deployed bomb squads, and conducted thorough searches. Thankfully, no suspicious objects were found, but the incident triggered widespread panic among parents rushing to collect their children.

Sharad Singhal, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch), confirmed the threats and assured that cyber experts are tracing the origin of the emails.

A Pattern of Threats in Gujarat

This is not the first time Gujarat institutions have faced such hoax threats:

  • June 9, August 20, September 15, 2025 – Similar emails targeted the Gujarat High Court.
  • October 2025 – Another email threatened the High Court registrar’s office, prompting a bomb squad search.
  • December 2025 – Now, schools have become the target, escalating fears among families.

Police sources revealed that the latest emails even mentioned names of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, raising suspicions of mischief or attempts to spread fear.

Parents’ Panic and Security Response

Parents rushed to campuses after hearing the news. Social media groups were flooded with frantic messages, while schools coordinated with police to ensure safe evacuation.

Authorities deployed:

  • Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS)
  • Dog squads
  • Fire brigade and Special Operations Group (SOG)

The police have registered FIRs and are investigating whether the threats originated from within India or overseas servers.

Why These Threats Matter

Even though no bombs were found, such hoax emails:

  • Disrupt education – Classes were halted, exams postponed.
  • Cause psychological stress – Students and parents reported anxiety.
  • Drain resources – Police, fire brigades, and emergency services mobilized repeatedly.

Experts warn that repeated hoax threats can desensitize institutions, making them vulnerable if a real incident occurs.
