SBI IMPS Charges 2026: New Rules for Online Transfers & ATM Withdrawals

Focus Keyword: SBI IMPS Charges 2026

Big news for SBI customers in 2026 — the country’s largest public sector bank has announced new charges for online IMPS transactions. Starting February 15, 2026, customers will need to pay a small service fee for high‑value IMPS transfers. Alongside this, revised ATM and ADWM charges are also coming into effect.

What Are the New SBI IMPS Rules?

Until now, SBI did not charge customers for online IMPS transfers. But under the new rules:

  • Transactions up to ₹25,000: Free (no charges).
  • ₹25,000 – ₹1 lakh: ₹2 + GST.
  • ₹1 lakh – ₹2 lakh: ₹6 + GST.
  • ₹2 lakh – ₹5 lakh: ₹10 + GST.

The higher the transfer amount, the higher the fee. However, the charges remain modest compared to the convenience IMPS offers.

Which Customers Are Exempt?

SBI has clarified that special account categories will continue to enjoy exemptions. These include:

  • DSP, PMSP, ICSP, CGSP, PSP, and RSP accounts
  • Shaurya Family Pension Account
  • SBI Rishtey Family Savings Account

For these customers, IMPS charges remain unchanged.

ATM & ADWM Charges Revised

From December 1, 2025, SBI also revised ATM and ADWM charges:

  • Withdrawals from other banks’ ATMs beyond the free limit: ₹23 + GST.
  • Salary account holders: 10 free transactions per month.
  • Current account holders: Higher charges on all ATM transactions.
  • Exemptions: BSBD accounts, SBI debit card holders, and Kisan Credit Card accounts.

Why Did SBI Revise Charges?

Banks are facing rising operational costs due to:

  • Increased digital transaction volumes.
  • Higher infrastructure and security expenses.
  • Push for balancing free services with sustainable banking.

SBI’s move aligns with RBI guidelines that allow banks to levy nominal charges for high‑value transactions.

Impact on Customers

  • Small transfers remain free: Everyday payments under ₹25,000 are unaffected.
  • High‑value transfers cost more: Customers sending large sums will pay nominal fees.
  • ATM withdrawals costlier: Using other banks’ ATMs beyond free limits will pinch pockets.

For most customers, the impact will be felt only during large IMPS transfers or frequent ATM withdrawals.

Tips to Save on SBI IMPS & ATM Charges

  • Use UPI for small transfers — still free.
  • Plan large IMPS transfers to minimize frequency.
  • Use SBI ATMs to avoid cross‑bank withdrawal charges.
  • Check if your account type qualifies for exemptions.
