Dewald Brevis Steals the Show
Young sensation Dewald Brevis delivered a jaw-dropping performance, smashing 125 runs off just 56 balls, the highest-ever score by a South African in men’s T20 internationals. His innings, laced with boundaries and audacious sixes, propelled the Proteas to a formidable 218/7 in 20 overs.
Brevis’s fireworks were backed by useful contributions from Tristan Stubbs and Rassie van der Dussen, while Australia’s bowlers struggled to contain the carnage despite early breakthroughs.
Australia Falter in Chase
In response, Australia’s chase never truly ignited. Despite a fighting 50 from Tim David, the hosts collapsed under pressure, losing wickets at regular intervals. Kwena Maphaka and Corbin Bosch led the bowling charge, with Maphaka claiming three scalps and Bosch nearly bagging a hat-trick in the death overs.
