Vijay Declares Solo Run: “No Alliance, 2026 Tamil Nadu Polls Between DMK And TVK”
In a fiery and symbolic address at Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam’s (TVK) second state-level conference in Madurai, actor-turned-politician C. Joseph Vijay made a bold declaration: his party will contest the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections without any alliances, positioning the contest as a direct face-off between the ruling DMK and his fledgling TVK.
“A Lion Is Always a Lion”: Vijay’s Rallying Cry
Vijay, fondly known as “Thalapathy” by his fans, electrified the crowd with powerful imagery and political intent. “A lion is always a lion. Even if it’s alone, it’s the king of the jungle,” he said, dismissing rumors of potential alliances with either the BJP or DMK. He emphasized that TVK is not a party that fears underground mafias or bows to established power structures.
TVK to Contest All 234 Seats
Vijay announced his candidacy from Madurai East but urged voters to treat every TVK candidate as if he himself were contesting. “Vote for TVK no matter who the candidate is,” he said, signaling a grassroots strategy that prioritizes local representation and emotional connection with the electorate.
Ideological and Political Enemies
Vijay drew a sharp line between ideological and political opposition. He labeled the BJP as TVK’s “ideological enemy” and the DMK as its “political enemy,” accusing both of failing the people of Tamil Nadu. He criticized the BJP for imposing NEET and neglecting Tamil Nadu fishermen, and slammed the DMK for unfulfilled promises and corruption.
Vision for Tamil Nadu
TVK’s platform, according to Vijay, will focus on:
- Safety and welfare of women, the elderly, and children
- Support for farmers, youth, transgender individuals, and the disabled
- Reclaiming Katchatheevu for Tamil Nadu fishermen
- Revoking NEET and restoring educational autonomy
Mobilizing the Masses
Vijay also launched the ‘MyTVK’ membership app, aiming to enroll two crore members before the 2026 elections—a move that signals serious digital mobilization and grassroots engagement.
Vijay’s declaration marks a seismic shift in Tamil Nadu’s political landscape. With no alliances and a full slate of candidates, TVK is gearing up to challenge the Dravidian duopoly head-on. As Vijay put it, “History will repeat itself. The election results of 1967 and 1977 will happen again in 2026”.
